Get smart about your vacation...

Tips for an affordable vacation

Tips for an affordable vacation
Many of us are looking forward to a summer vacation. If you’ve already started or are beginning to formulate plans, here are some strategies to consider:
 • Join up with extended family and friends — Consider renting a large beach or lake house. They can accommodate a large extended family or several families which may help reduce the per-family cost significantly. Sites such as https://www.airbnb.com and http://www.vrbo.com make it easier to find and rent larger homes.
 • Consider an all-inclusive — Many travel experts say that pre-paying for all the food, drinks, and relaxation you can buy may help you have a more enjoyable vacation because you don’t constantly think about the money you’re spending. Before you pony up your down payment though, make sure you know what is included and what’s not included. Many resorts charge for extras and some may not include gratuities.
 • Wait to upgrade — You may want to consider booking the lowest-price room or vehicle and then try to upgrade upon arrival. This approach may lead to a better deal but it may also lead to “no deal,” so make sure you’re willing to stay in the room or drive the vehicle you originally booked.
 • Bring your own “stuff?” It depends … Packing your own snacks, water bottles, alcohol and even a bicycle may help reduce daily expenses on the road. But if you’re traveling by air these days, it may be best to lighten your load, as many airlines charge to check bags and heavier bags may cost more.

Get smart about your vacation
Vacation planning takes time — there are many factors to consider such as timing, weather, activities, budget, preferred travel method and so on. The more you take into consideration, the better your chances may be of having an enjoyable trip. And do your homework — with travel, like insurance, the more you know, the better you can plan. Happy vacationing!

Ever wondered who pays?

Generally speaking, insurance goes with the vehicle.
For example, if you have an accident while driving someone else's vehicle,
the owner's insurance would first, be applied toward damages to the vehicle.
Your Auto insurance would also generally apply in the event that the
owner of the vehicle had no Auto insurance or did not have
enough auto insurance to pay for the damages.
Personal Injury Protection, which varies from state-to-state,
covers the individual under their individual policy. For example,
if my friend is driving my vehicle and gets hurt in an accident, my
Auto insurance will cover the damages caused to my vehicle,
but their Auto insurance will cover injuries caused to their person.

“In My Life”

You are special

Shower the people you love with love. Show them the way that you feel.
~ James Taylor, singer and songwriter

“In My Life”
You are special
We all have a story to share — the people in our lives, and the experiences we go through make up our personal history. Farmers’ new Facebook app “In My Life” will help you show and share your story and your love with those who matter most to you.

For many of us, our story includes characters and events and this new app allows you to share them in a video. Choose the people important to you and create a collection of personalized photos and comments to share with them. The app will post a message on the wall of the people you select to let them know that your video is ready to view.

The things we do for love
As you share your love with those you care most about, consider this: What do love and life insurance have in common? A lot. Love is what motivates many of us to buy life insurance. We buy it because we love our family and want to help protect them financially if the unexpected should occur. Life insurance is the ultimate act of enduring love — it can help you make sure that those you care most about will be okay if suddenly you’re not around.

Check out Farmers’ new Facebook app "In My Life" at www.farmersinmylife.com. And call me — I can help you make an informed decision about life insurance and help you to take the next steps in protecting your loved ones.
